CHiLDREN 09

09. CHiLDREN - Disposal Area (and game mechanics)

Some more details sketching about game mechanics in the game:

-Ferrofluids - used as shields and weapons against the SB.
Without them, the player can’t survive in the universe of CHiLDREN.
-To capture territories, you must stay at the location and spread Ferrofluids.
-In this co-op two-player game, you must periodically check
the back of your partner to monitor their ferrofluid levels.
-Black Holes — Can be used to signal your decisions,
as your co-op partner can't hear your voice.
(USING VOICE chat DURING THE MISSIONS IS DEADLY:
Designed with visual communication in mind, the game is perfect for deaf and hard-of-hearing players.)
-Players can alter Black Hole combinations.
Since there are no preset patterns, players are prompted
to create their own during gameplay.
-The more Black Holes a player has,
the more gestures they can show their partner.
-Lighting and time of day play an important role.
The color of the 'Black Holes' can be changed
at special places,
so players have to plan their journey
through dark areas.
-In Single Player mode, the co-op partner is replaced by an AI dog companion. This NPC appears as a dog and has a limited set of signals.

A bit about the world around settlements:

The Fly is a faction of robots inhabiting the junkyard outskirts (disposal areas) of the Silicon Brain megacities.

Hostile toward both Humans and the SB, they recognize no law.

They build their nests near the holding areas of captured humans, feeding off their memories.
